Piano Repair

Sometimes your piano needs more attention than a simple tune. Over time parts of your piano's mechanism wear out or fall out of line with the other moving parts of the piano. This will affect the sound of the piano and if left for long, can wear out or damage other parts.

Fortunately we can restore your piano and make repairs where required. Not all piano tuners are also trained to carry out further maintenance and repair of the internal workings of a piano. For this you need an experienced and preferably registered technician. If you are trusting your loved piano to the hands of someone else you want to know you can fully rely on them to get the piano into top playing condition, and not to cause any damage to its parts through well-meaning but untrained work.

Piano Tuning Fort Worth works with registered piano technicians who will treat your piano with care and knowledge. If you would like to speak to us about any concerns you have about the condition of your piano, please give us a call on:

What is Piano Voicing?

Picture of an elder piano technician softening the felt of a piano's hammers using a needle
The voice of the piano is its tonal sound. All pianos have slightly different voices, and this is determined by it’s overall build and environment. However, over time the voice of the piano may change. The felt hammers that strike the strings and make the note can harden over time and may cause the voice of the piano to become slightly harsher sounding. Though this does no harm to the piano, you may prefer the softer tone it once had.

If you have experienced this with your piano give us a call at Piano Tuning Fort Worth and we may be able to help. Our technicians are trained to soften hammers using voicing needles, targeting the hammers that have experienced the most hardening to ensure an even tone throughout all the notes. The technician may ask you to be present during the voicing so that you can advise on the sound you like.

What is Piano Regulation?

Over time and use pianos gradually fall out of peak playing performance. Sticking or silent keys, reduced responsiveness, or broken parts all indicate a piano in need of regulation. Regulation is the process of realigning, restoring, and repairing all the moving parts of the piano so that they work together in the way they should so they can produce the quality tone and sound they should. Regulation can extend the life of your piano as proper positioning reduces the wear and tear on the parts and on the piano as a whole.

As with voicing, trained technicians should be used if you require piano regulation as they have the knowledge and proven expertise required for ensuring all moving parts are in good condition and where they should be. Your piano is an investment, as well as an instrument that can bring a lot of joy to you and your family, and it deserves to be looked after by professionals.

Pianos that have just experienced a move, or even those freshly delivered from the shop may benefit from regulation to ensure that everything is aligned correctly and in ideal playing condition.
